Yappy Hour Drink and Pet Snack Suggestions

chips-and-salsa

In preparation for our Yappy Hour Show,  we want to share with you some of the NOM NOMS we will  be preparing here at TPPC.tv Studios.  Honestly, we will probably be pretty limited with time, but we wanted to at least have a fancy pants beverage.  We will most likely have chips and salsa with some cheese and crackers or crudités while we are on the air.

We included a couple of dog friendly recipes just in case you want to make a little something special for the pups.  Honestly, the pups might need to pry these tasty looking treats from our hands!

But don’t worry, if you are really pressed for time…beer, wine and Doritos, peanuts or Pub Mix will certainly fit the bill!

All of the recipes below are from the Every Day With Rachael Ray website.

Beverage for the peeps, not the doggies:

Jewel Punch

Ingredients

1 liter ginger ale, chilled
Three 12-ounce bags frozen cherries
1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
3 cups purple grape juice, chilled
1 1/2 cups vodka
1/4 cup Cointreau or triple sec
Ice, for serving

Directions

Combine the ginger ale, cherries, strawberries, grape juice, vodka and Cointreau in a punch bowl or large pitcher and stir well.

Pour into ice-filled glasses and enjoy!

Doggie Biscotti

2 cups whole wheat flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

2 pinches ground cinnamon

1 cup chunky peanut butter

1 cup milk

1 cup carob chips

Easy does it
Use a serrated bread knife to slice the biscotti log.

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 400°. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and cinnamon. Place the peanut butter in a medium bowl and microwave at high power to soften, 5 to 10 seconds. Whisk in the milk, then stir the mixture into the dry ingredients.

Shape the dough into a long, flattened log and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes; remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes. Slice the log crosswise on an angle into 1-inch-thick pieces. Set the slices on their sides (they should look like biscotti) and bake until crisp, 10 to 12 minutes more. Transfer to a rack to cool.

Melt the carob in a microwave or on the stovetop over low heat. Thin the melted carob with 1 tablespoon water, if needed. Using a spoon, drizzle the melted carob over the biscuits. Let cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

Doggie Salsa

1 mango, chopped

1 banana, chopped

1/2 cup fresh berries, such as blackberries, raspberries or chopped strawberries

1/2 cup chopped cooked chicken

Juice of 1/2 lime

5 to 8 fresh mint leaves, chopped

Toss all of the ingredients together.
