About Tim:

Timothy Glass was born in Pennsylvania and moved to the southwest with his family as a child. Tim graduated from the University of New Mexico. He spent some time in New England and now lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Author Timothy Glass started his writing career as a journalist, under the pen name of C. Stewart. More than 300 of his nonfiction articles have been published nationally and internationally for the health and fitness industry. In the summer of 1991, one article, “The Heat is On,” was attributed to saving a life when a young California runner collapsed from heat stress. Shortly before the incident, the runner’s partner had read the article and attended to his partner until the EMTs arrived. The emergency medical crew believed that the partner’s keen knowledge of what to do in the event of heat stress saved the young runner’s life.

Tim founded and wrote the “Crime Watch” column for the Better Business Bureau of New Mexico. He was also the editor for eBroadcastNews, a publication on computer and Internet security.

He was a freelance journalist for It’s a Wrap magazine, a New Mexico entertainment quarterly, until the magazine’s retirement in the late 1990s, and he has worked as a regular contributing writer for several New York based magazines.

Several TV series featured a half-hour episode about Tim’s research for his nonfiction book, Until the End of Time. He received an award during a ceremony judged by senior nonfiction editor P. Kaganoff of Simon and Schuster, and placed first in the 2004 Southwest Writers nonfiction contest.

Tim is currently working on several writing projects, including the Sleepytown Beagles http://www.sleepytownbeagles.com/children’s book series. His new nonfiction book, Just This Side of Heaven http://www.justthissideofheaven.com/   , a story about pet loss, was published in June 2008. His publisher released a new novel, Postcards http://www.platinumpawpress.com/postcards/ , by Tim writing as T. Faron in June 2009. He is also working on an animated screenplay titled, Hero.

Tim is a staff writer for a global newsletter put out monthly by OurDogHouse.com. Tim enjoys the company of his wife, Cathy, and his tri-colored beagles. He also enjoys camping, hiking, weight training, and woodworking. He is a member of the Author’s Guild of America, Author’s League of America, and past member of IEEE Computer Society.

New Book Helps Dog Lovers Save Money

Oct. 30, 2010 (Austin, TX)–Looking for ways to save money on your dog expenditures? The publishers of DogTipper.com, one of the web’s top sites for dog tips, have released a new book designed to help dog lovers put a leash on their expenditures. Barkonomics: Tips for Frugal Fidos (Riviera Books) takes a look at ways you can live frugally with your dog with over 300 tips, from obtaining your dog to food, fun, veterinary care and prescriptions, training, travel, and more.

“We’ve heard so many heartbreaking stories about pet lovers surrendering their dogs because of economic problems,” says co-author Paris Permenter. “At a time when everyone has a close eye on the family budget, we wanted to help people find ways to trim their dog expenditures regardless of their income level.”

Along the way, the husband-wife team of authors interviewed numerous experts in all areas of dog care for their ideas and tips on stretching those dog dollars. “We surveyed DogTipper.com readers to learn the ways they’d like to cut costs,” explains John Bigley. “Along with interviewing experts, we’ve talked with fellow dog lovers we found everywhere from dog festivals to dog parks to our local grocery store about how they’re making the most of their pet purchasing power.”

Barkonomics: Tips for Frugal Fidos retails for $9.95 and is available at Amazon.com. Twenty percent of the book’s proceeds will be donated to the pet non-profit selected each quarter by the readers of DogTipper.com.

About the Authors

Paris Permenter and John Bigley are a husband-wife team of professional writers. The authors have written 28 books ranging from travel guides to cookbooks published by Random House, Globe Pequot, Open Road, Avalon, and others. Paris and John live with their dogs and cats in the Texas Hill Country.

About Canine Club Getaway: We are an all-inclusive resort vacation for dogs and the people who love them, holding an annual dog-centric vacation in Lake George, NY (our next Getaway is set for June 25-29, 2011). But this isn’t just a vacation where dogs are allowed — rather, the dogs are an integral part of the vacation, with dogs welcome in the pool, the bar, the seminars and the dog-friendly section of the dining room. We offer a host of activities (swimming, hiking, agility, hiking, flyball, frisbee, lure coursing, a silent auction to support animal charities), classes (canine CPR, Therapy Dog and Canine Good Citizen preparation and testing, “barks and crafts”) and seminars by veterinarians, trainers, dog behavior experts and even a dog talent agent!

Launched in 2009, we’ve been dubbed “Club Med for dogs” by New York’s Newsday and we were featured on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric in June of 2010.
