About Sara Henderson:

Prior to starting BOGO Bowl, Sara founded and managed a non-profit to help Iowa animals stay in their homes and out of shelters. For money, she’s been a corporate writer, worked in legal support, business management, investment banking, construction, real estate development and sales. An LA native, she moved to Des Moines in the late 90s on purpose and of her own volition. Since then she’s wiped most of the items off her bucket list, and is now in the process of building and completing a new bucket list. Her number one priority is taking “food” out of the budgets of organizations helping animals. Other list items include experiencing the world, buying cute shoes she will probably never have time to wear, and discovering lots of lovely wine. She shares her historic home with a 13 year old lab/chow/Rottweiler named Lady, a special 4 year old pit bull/boxer named Chance, blind cats Magoo and Bibi, and occasional fosters.

About Amazon Cares:  Amazon Community Animal Rescue, Education & Safety (CARES) seeks better health and living conditions for ALL living beings of the Peruvian Amazon region. This includes appropriate care, respect, and protection from cruelty and neglect.

The world is focused on the important global and environmental issues facing the Amazon Rain forest region.  Naturalists, biologists, environmentalists and wandering souls visit Iquitos in droves.  Sadly, this region had NO programs in place for DOMESTIC animal welfare.

This is the reason that Amazon Community Animal Rescue, Education and Safety (CARES) was founded in 2004.  Citizens with a desire to protect countless stray animals stepped in to create programs that the government did not provide.  Since 2005, this charity has made amazing progress in the promotion of animal and public health.
