With so much talk about “Adopt Don’t Shop”, San Francisco could be one of the first major cities to potentially put their policy where the saying is. Currently shelters overrun with unwanted animals, in this case a plethora of hamsters.
The city is considering a ban on animal sales with the exception of fish.
The proposal generated controversy causing the commission to postpone the vote for at least a month.
This does leave one to wonder about breeders and mills. Are they slipping under the radar? With a well intended law, they could be missing the underlying source of many of their cities animal population problems.
