Pet Keeper Secrets Pet Odor and Stain Remover

Pet Keeper Secrets Pet Odor and Stain Remover

No one likes pet odor or unsightly pet stains in his or her house or car. Personally, we are always looking for ways to make our lives easier by using products that work quickly and effectively.  So, when we received Pet Keeper Secrets Pet Odor & Stain Remover in the mail, we were very interested to see how the product worked.

Honestly, we panicked a little when we opened the box that the sample arrived in.  We thought the bottle leaked because there was no liquid in it.  Then we read the enclosed note instructing us to add water to the minerals in the bottle.  Self-duh! What a great idea, right?!!  It’s silly to pay for shipping water, but also just think about what you are doing to save the environment!  All of the fuel shipping water here and there!  We wish all products could be purchased this way. C’mon, who wants to lug home that giant, heavy laundry detergent bottle?  Pet Keeper Secrets is very forward thinking.  We like that.

Joe and I don’t like perfume smells and overpowering fragrances.  In fact, we hate them.  We equally loathe stinky stuff.  Go figure.  So we were very interested when we read Pet Keeper Secrets Pet Odor & Stain Remover is:

-100% mineral based

-Safe for pets and people

-Hypoallergenic

-Fragrance Free.

The product can be used on air born and surface an odor as well as surface stains on hard and soft surfaces such as carpet, furniture and litter boxes.

Testing

Stink Test

You may know our girls have indoor potties and use doggy litter boxes with wee-wee pads in them.  They can use them in inclement weather.  (What doggy diva wants to potty with raindrops falling on her head?)  This was the perfect place for us to test for odor removal.  Even their urine is strong smelling so we were anxious to spray the product directly in the air after potty time.  We are going to spare you pictures of the test.  You are welcome.

So we waited until wee-wee time and low and behold there was a bonus number 2 in Phil’s potty!  (Disclaimer: as pet owners we all need to deal with the “stuff” so bare with us and apologies for the frank conversation, but it is what it is.)  We sprayed 3 squishes over the little box and the smell was gone!  No covered up scent chemical smell- just like the smell was never there to begin with.

Stain Test

Our methodology was a little off the wall, but we needed a pet stain.  Armed with rubber gloves, I dabbed an old scrap of fabric in a wee-wee spot before it was absorbed into the wee-wee pad. (The dogs think we are crazy-but they should know that by now.)  We let it set for about 5 minutes, and then sprayed it with Pet Keeper Secrets, Pet Odor & Stain Remover.  We ran in under water and the urine looked like it was never there.  We would suspect a carpet stain would be removed with a few sprays and dabbed up with a little water rinse.

No Sticky Resoiling

Now, we didn’t have time and the traffic to test the no resoiling claim, but what the literature states, makes sense-there is no soap or surfactants in the product, so soil has nothing to stick to when you walk on the spot again.  In case you don’t know what a surfactant is…you can reference Wikipedia, like we did.  Here is what is says about those nasty surfactants:

Health and environmental controversy[edit source | editbeta]

Surfactants are routinely deposited in numerous ways on land and into water systems, whether as part of an intended process or as industrial and household waste. Some of them are known to be toxic to animals, ecosystems, and humans, and can increase the diffusion of other environmental contaminants.[9][10][11] As a result, there are proposed or voluntary restrictions on the use of some surfactants. For example, PFOS is a persistent organic pollutant as judged by the Stockholm Convention. Additionally, PFOA has been subject to a voluntary agreement by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and eight chemical companies to reduce and eliminate emissions of the chemical and its precursors.[12]

I’m a dog momma of 2 and also a professional dogsitter, so it’s safe to say that I deal with a lot of smells and stains on a daily basis, whether it be in my car or my carpet. Winning this would be a great reason to try the product before I actually buy it!
