We have been avoiding wheat and eating gluten free products made from rice flour. We have not eaten that much of gluten free products, but when you need a little piece of toast to have with an egg…it’s not bad. (Obviously not super delicious either.)
So we were watching CBS news this morning and they had on Dr. William Davis author of the book, Wheat Belly. He was talking about wheat, engineered in the 60’s and 70’s to be 10x more productive. Gene splicing was not as exact of a science as it is now, and the gene splicing had side effects of an increased incidence of diabetes, arthritis, high cholesterol and a variety of other ailments.
This includes not eating whole wheat breads and pastas, as they are made with the same wheat, just not as processed. We have been talking about that fact that food isn’t what it used to be when we were kids for sometime now. It’s all about money now. More productivity, stretch the product, give people less and charge them more!
We just wanted to give you a little food for thought, because we feel so much better without wheat in our diets.
