Animal News: Animal War Heroes, Pigeons, Mules, Horses and Dogs, Honored at National World War II Museum

A touching photo of the partnership between a soldier and a dog Photo:

The National World War II Museum in New Orleans has an exhibit running from July 22-Oct. 17 featuring those furry and feathered friends that helped with the war effort.    The National Museum website states:

“Animals were appreciated both for their labor and love, but unfortunately not all were shown humane treatment when their usefulness was no longer in dire need. This exhibit will focus on each different animal’s specific usefulness and specific role within a campaign…Loyal Forces: Animals in WWII will allow visitors to see another side of World War II, and demonstrate how lessons learned then continue to help us today in the utilization of animals and their unique abilities today. “

It sounds as if they are presenting a realistic view on what occurred during that time period.  If anyone is in the area and visits the exhibit, we would be interested to hear your thoughts.
