Rose's Fund for Animals

What's it all about?

At Roses Fund we are sensitive to the fact that it takes more than love to save a life, and all animals deserve a chance. We will financially assist, to the best of our ability, pet owners and Good Samaritans that have an animal with a good prognosis for a healthy life, but are at a financial loss.
Our goal is to help make that difficult decision come from your heart, not from your pocket.
No one should ever have to choose between medical care and euthanizing their pet..
When there is a situation where the pet or found animal has a good chance of being well but the owner or Good Samaritan can’t afford it; this fund will cover the cost.  The veterinarian will call the fund and the check would go directly to the practice. The veterinarian will call the fund after the owner has used his/her own resources and applied for a care card at the office.
We will then assist the owner in anyway we can to pay the bill.

Why the name Roses Fund:
On June First I was driving and saw a car go around something white in the road. I saw as I approached that it was a cat injured and bleeding but alive. The driver who hit her must have seen her as the car that went around did also.
I stopped and drove right to the closest emergency veterinarian practice. On registration they asked her name, I didn’t know, but since the secretary had on pink scrubs I called the cat Rose. They said she had a broken leg but also some head trauma, so her prognosis was guarded. They asked what I wanted to do, so I decided to have them give her pain medication and stabilize the leg and give her some time and also look for the owners.
That night I spoke with the veterinarian who said she was stable, the breathing was better and the neurological issues seemed to be resolving.
At 1AM I got a call from the vet saying that they were very sorry but Rose had just passed on. I kept thinking that at least she died warm and cared for, not in the street being hit again, or in pain as the driver left her.
I never did find her owner, even though I left my number everywhere, put up her picture and even went door to door in the neighborhood where I found her.
Many asked me why I would spend so much money on a cat that I had found, and the answer has always been that if anything ever happened to my pets, that is how I would hope someone would care for them. And it was the right thing to do.
I decided to call this Roses Fund, so that this lost cat’s death will serve to help others.
Thank you again,

We are  proud to have helped:

Louie, a 1 ½ year old cat with a urinary blockage – according to his veterinarian, Dr. Michael Petranto at Twin Rivers Animal Hospital (East Windsor, N.J) Louie would have died without this surgery. His owners, a young family were unable to pay this bill. Rose’s Fund was able to help and he is happy and healthy. I have attached a letter from his family as well as a picture. His owner recently sent $50 to help replenish the fund so that others can also be helped

Sam, a 5 year old mixed lab was out for a walk with his owner on a retractable leash. A cat dashed out in front of him and Sam ran into the street and was hit by the front tire of a car. He had a degloving injury to the front leg; a degloving injury is where an extensive section of skin is torn off the underlying tissue severing its blood supply. Dr Kepping at Oradell Animal Hospital (Paramus) tried to save the leg, but unfortunately it did need to be amputated. The owner sent some pictures of his pet, which I have attached. A few of the photos were taken post surgery. When you look at the pictures of Sam with his toy, you can see what a beautiful happy dog he is and Rose’s Fund is so happy it was able to help.
