Bauser wrote this update himself for us...
Well all…. I’m sure I’m a bit behind in updating every paw on how I am doing as well as how my fundraising is doing. I’m sorry I’m a bit behind on my updates. Mom has started a part time job which means, she is now working on 4 different types of job responsibilities: Me, herself, my human grandma, now mom’s PT job, and in Aug. she starts back to school again to work on her BA. She has been feeling a bit stressed lately especially since we have had a bunch of major storms come through here which freak me out to the point that I actually pull down the gate between the room she keeps me in and the rest of the house. I’m not supposed to jump regardless!!!!! Mom is very upset at me about this and is now left with no choice but to crate me when she leaves home so I do not hurt myself while she is gone.
I’m still progressing a bit, but not too much more due to the ataxia in my legs, but I’m not any quitter so I keep working on building my strength. It is a never ending goal of mine, so I’m sure you will hear it from mom.
My fundraising efforts have been pretty successful so far which means mom has been extremely busy for some time now, but all that hard work is worth it because as of today the fundraising efforts have reached $2,050.00. This means we are almost half way there. Remember the support we are getting from doggyspace.com, 3labsandabeagle.net, and tppc.tv who have been very generous and dedicated to our goals.
Keep cool my friends and take one day at a time.
Big doggy licks and hugs to you all. "

------------
We received a plea for a publicity for a family custom making bandanas to raise money to pay for their dog, Bauser's surgery. In addition, Bauser's Peeps sent us all of the vet's contact information. We contacted the vet, they verified Bauser is a patient and we are waiting for a call from the vet to speak with the Dr. directly. We do what we can to verify need, since this is a family and not a qualified charity. These people are asking for a hand up, not a hand out. Everything seems to have checked out fine, and we saw positive feedback from people who were enjoying their new custom doggie bandanas.
From Bauser's family:
We are hoping we may be able to get some assistance from you and your pet pod casts due to the fund raiser we are holding for Bauser's spine surgery. We have had a lot of positive feed back for the pet bandana's we are custom making for all pets, and are trying to expand our fund raising efforts because we are only 1/4 of the way into the fund raiser. Bauser is a very rare, energetic, black and white Bassett Hound who found us to be his owners, and are very lucky to have him in our lives. This past year has been very trying to my family because on Oct. 2, 2007 my mother fell and broke her neck which has lead her to be a quadreplegic due to a spinal cord injury at C6 and C7, then 13 months later Bauser suffers from a Spinal cord injury which we are struggling so hard to stay strong; however difficult these trying times may be, Bauser has a very good prognosis, is on the load road to recovery, and learning how to walk again, but the larger the dog the longer the process. Ataxia has set into his legs so we are working on a lot of muscle strengthening with pool thereapy, range of motion, flexing, spinal traction, and muscle massaging which I am doing for him. He may never be able to jump around again, but he is be able to play a bit until he gets to tired. He is now 8 wks post surgery and has a very good spirit, which is a positive thing for any dog.

The surgery for Bauser was $4,500.00 and his family had to fill out a Care Credit application which approved Christine's family to pay the hospital. The Care Credit has a 21% interest rate. We have made $371.00 worth of bandana's and have received $310.00 so far.
To help:
You can purchase custom bandanas by measuring your dog's neck or sending the breed and weight of the dog, as these are custom made, and mailing the info. with a check to:
