The Farm is dedicated to releasing wildlife back to the wild.  The farm land stretches over  120 acres and  the organization is staffed by volunteers. The farm is licensed by the State of New Jersey to care for fawns, skunks, opossums, raccoons, squirrels, rabbits & woodchucks.

The story of Baby Dexter Romeo Biggins
Mary Kris and Mark Biggins from Rutherford ,NJ went apple picking at a farm in Sussex County, NJ.After spending all day picking apples on their way out passed the dairy barn was a calf.  When they asked the farmer what was his name they were told he doesn't have a name because he is going to market because he was a bull calf and he could not stay at the dairy barn.

They were horrified and Mary decided to buy him at the time, not thinking where would he live.  Her husband being a carpenter figured he would build what ever Mary wanted to accommodate the little guy.  So they told the farmer they would be back for him and went home to figure out how to care for him.  After finding out what it takes to raise a cow, how long they live and what his eventual size would be they realized it would not be appropriate to keep him in Rutherford, NJ.

The Biggins put the word out that they had a bull calf for adoption.   After three weeks of no luck, Mark and Mary were ready to relocate to their summer house in PA to raise him. I saw the email at the 11th hour and contact them and here were are at Antler Ridge.  He is a Jersey cow and in one year should go from 100 lbs to 800 lbs. He will live here at antler ridge sponsored by Mary Kris and Mark for the rest of his life.

Some Tips about helping wild life:

Wildlife Baby Rescue Guidelines

  • Wear gloves when handling any wildlife
  • Provide a heat source for all rescued wildlife, a water bottle filled with hot water and cover with a sock, DO NOT use a heating pad or lights
  • Provide a blanket or towel to snuggle under
  • Keep rescued animals in a quiet, dark, safe and confined area (pet carrier etc) keep away from children and pets
  • DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FEED A WILD ANIMAL, wrong food can kill, do not give milk or pet food.
