About Tim:

Timothy Glass was born in Pennsylvania and moved to the southwest with his family as a child. Tim graduated from the University of New Mexico. He spent some time in New England and now lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Author Timothy Glass started his writing career as a journalist, under the pen name of C. Stewart. More than 300 of his nonfiction articles have been published nationally and internationally for the health and fitness industry. In the summer of 1991, one article, “The Heat is On,” was attributed to saving a life when a young California runner collapsed from heat stress. Shortly before the incident, the runner’s partner had read the article and attended to his partner until the EMTs arrived. The emergency medical crew believed that the partner’s keen knowledge of what to do in the event of heat stress saved the young runner’s life.

Tim founded and wrote the “Crime Watch” column for the Better Business Bureau of New Mexico. He was also the editor for eBroadcastNews, a publication on computer and Internet security.

He was a freelance journalist for It’s a Wrap magazine, a New Mexico entertainment quarterly, until the magazine’s retirement in the late 1990s, and he has worked as a regular contributing writer for several New York based magazines.

Several TV series featured a half-hour episode about Tim’s research for his nonfiction book, Until the End of Time. He received an award during a ceremony judged by senior nonfiction editor P. Kaganoff of Simon and Schuster, and placed first in the 2004 Southwest Writers nonfiction contest.

Tim is currently working on several writing projects, including the Sleepytown Beagles http://www.sleepytownbeagles.com/children’s book series. His new nonfiction book, Just This Side of Heaven http://www.justthissideofheaven.com/   , a story about pet loss, was published in June 2008. His publisher released a new novel, Postcards http://www.platinumpawpress.com/postcards/ , by Tim writing as T. Faron in June 2009. He is also working on an animated screenplay titled, Hero.

Tim is a staff writer for a global newsletter put out monthly by OurDogHouse.com. Tim enjoys the company of his wife, Cathy, and his tri-colored beagles. He also enjoys camping, hiking, weight training, and woodworking. He is a member of the Author’s Guild of America, Author’s League of America, and past member of IEEE Computer Society.

Purina Licenses The oneCARE Company to Launch

ProCare™ Products, Provide Smart Innovating Pet Care

New line to include training pads, carpet and upholstery cleaners

Atlanta, Ga.—Bringing home a new pet is an exciting time and most pet owners want only the very best for the newest member of the family. To make sure the experience is a good one, The oneCARE Company has teamed up with Purina to launch a new line of products: Purina ProCare™. The line, designed to make pet care easier, will be unveiled at this year’s Global Pet Expo and includes Ultra Dry Advanced Training Pads and Pet Stain & Odor Eliminator for carpet and upholstery.

“One of the first things we teach our new pets are the ‘rules’ of the house, including housetraining,” explains Jennifer MacLean, oneCARE’s marketing director for pet care products. “The keys to successful housetraining are consistency and patience, along with a well-established routine. For many pet owners, that often means some period of time spent paper training.”

The earliest stages of housetraining are the most important, as puppies need to go more often than their full-grown counterparts. But, veterinarians attest that paper training can help maintain good habits as it helps keep puppies in a routine, while allowing owners a bit more freedom with their schedule.

Traditional paper training products often leave pet owners with a mess to clean. To help with that, oneCARE is introducing the Purina ProCare™ Ultra Dry Advance Training Pads. The new pads are the result of innovative design concepts, from the product itself and even the packaging. They feature exclusive DryStep™ microweave technology designed by experts for superior speed of absorption and ultimate dryness, eliminating unsanitary tracking.

Here’s how it works:

  • ·         Thousands of one-way microfunnels quickly channel urine into the core, trapping it there and keeping the surface dry
  • ·         The super-absorbent gel core provides maximum absorbency, keeping puppy’s paws clean
  • ·         Pads contain a natural puppy attractant as well as a powerful odor neutralizer
  • ·         A leak-proof backing also protects floors and carpets

The pads are available at pet specialty retail stores in 10-count, 30-count and 50-count quantities and come in an easy-to-store box for convenient dispensing.

Even the Best Pets Have Accidents
To help in those instances, oneCARE is also introducing the Purina ProCare Pet Stain & Odor Eliminator for carpet and upholstery. The new cleaner features superior pro-enzyme technology, a unique six-enzyme blend designed by experts that breaks down stains and eliminates odors safely and naturally, and is certified by The Carpet & Rug Institute and performance is guaranteed.

The dual action cleaner lifts pet soils from and cleans surface carpet fibers for easy removal while the odor-eliminating technology destroys surface odors on contact. The enzymes and bacteria continue to break down deep-set stains and the source of odors until they’ve been completely eliminated; thorough odor removal discourages pets from remarking. Designed for use on carpet, upholstery, pet beds, litter boxes and any water-safe surface, the Purina ProCare™ Pet Stain & Odor Eliminator is safe for use around children and pets.

In addition to debuting and demonstrating these items, oneCARE will also highlight the full line of Purina ProCare™ stain and odor products, including Oxy Pet Stain & Odor Eliminator and Stain & Odor Eliminator for hard surfaces, as well as a variety of Purina pet shampoos, including Gentle Care Puppy, Deep Deodorizing and Moisturizing Oatmeal.

For more information about these products, please visit oneCARE on March 16-18, 2011 at the Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Fla., at Booth #1957 or visit them online at www.onecareco.com.

Dog killer shot dog “for Art” receives $750,000 in public funds

We were on Facebook earlier today when we read a story from Gawker.com posted by Christina D. at LOLDoxie.com.  This is just outrageous…

Tom Otterness

Tom Otterness

Should Sculptor Who Shot Dog ‘for Art’ Receive $750K in Public Funds?

Back in 1977, Brooklyn-based artist Tom Otterness made a film of himself shooting and killing a dog he’d adopted from an animal shelter. It’s art! But it’s also evidence of an act of animal cruelty, which is why some San Francisco residents don’t want Otterness to receive $750,000 in public funds to make statues for a local subway station.

Otterness was awarded the money by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s board of directors, which approved the contract commissioning him to create 59 bronze statues—not of dead dogs, but of the little cartoonish people he now makes. Somehow the judging panel didn’t know about Otterness’s dog-murder movie—even though it’s listed right there on his danged Wikipedia page, and a simple Internet search of his name pulls up results that refer to it. Now they have a signed contract on their hands, and must to answer to a city full of hippie dog lovers too busy throwing soy bones to their pets to have any kids.
